The fire safety of a space is very important for the following reasons:
- is mandatory by law
- the certificate is required for the issuance of an operating license
- a possible fire may endanger the life and physical integrity of customers and employees
- heat sources and sometimes naked flames are used, which can easily become sources of fire ignition
- often, combustible gases are used which, when mixed with ambient air, can cause explosive mixtures that are easily flammable and very dangerous.
- in many places there are flammable materials, such as grease that accumulates in the exhaust filters and in the pipes of the exhaust system.
- the staff usually has little experience in dealing with fires.
The process of fire protection measures includes two stages:
- The fire protection study, which is carried out by a scientist of the corresponding specialty (Mechanical Engineer, etc.) and approved by the Fire Department.
- The installation of the systems and the application for the issuance of a fire protection certificate from the Fire Department.
The usual fire protection means are the following:
- Dry powder fire extinguishers (at least two required per floor and per space. Determined by the fire safety study)
- Fire water supply system or cabinet with 1/2” pipe as appropriate (in some cases not required)
- Security lights
- Local application extinguishing system which is placed under the extractor hood and extinguishes possible fires from food preparation areas
- Explosive mixture detectors in the event of combustible gases (LPG, natural gas)
- Fire detection and fire alarm system (in larger hotels and entertainment centers.
- Other systems provided for in the fire protection study.
In any case, because the occurrence of a fire or explosion endangers people’s lives and incurs large administrative and criminal penalties, we do not make “discounts” on fire safety systems.
