What is it:
The special operating mark (ESL) for tourist accommodations is replaced by the accommodation classification certificate in stars and keys.
It concerns both existing and new tourist accommodations of the following types:
hotels – stars from 1* to 5*
furnished rooms for rent – apartments (EEDD) – keys from 2 to 4
Tourist furnished residences or villas are not included, which are licensed based on Law 4179/2013, article 46 and retain their special operating mark.
Classification certificate procedure
The classification certificate is granted by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCC) upon application by the company wishing to be certified, while the company is inspected by an accredited control and certification body.
